There are certain expectations drivers have for GMC pickup trucks when it comes to the latest in technology and professional-grade capability. Inside the cabin is a Driver Attention System consisting of a camera integrated on top of the steering column and infrared emitters integrated into the steering wheel. These components help ensure the driver is paying attention. With 400,000 miles and counting of compatible highways in the U.S. and Canada, there are plenty of regions where attentive drivers can take advantage of Super Cruise. Founded in 2007, Gear Patrol is the definitive buying guide for enthusiasts. Our independent experts test the best in cars, tech, home, outdoors, style and watches.

The Best Aluminum Suitcases for Every Trip

Complete attention is always required while driving, even when using Super Cruise. The driver should always be prepared to take over steering or apply the brakes at any time. DETROIT – Being a leader in hands-free driving can’t happen by standing still, and winning over more happy customers means expanding access to technology through both features — like available trailering1 — and drivable roads.

Automatic updates via your OnStar plan will occur for the latest Super Cruise road availability information. In the event that a map update is not completed within seven months, Super Cruise will be disabled. In order to get Super Cruise working again, you must either drive the vehicle long enough for the automatic updates via your OnStar service plan to take effect or visit the dealer to have a new map update downloaded to the vehicle for free. With Lane Change on Demand (offered on select 2021–2023 Super Cruise-equipped vehicles, excludes 2022 and 2023 XT6), Super Cruise can steer to perform a single lane change under certain conditions when requested by the driver. It cannot drive the vehicle or replace your responsibility to be attentive and ready to take control at any time. Even when Super Cruise is engaged, you must remain attentive and act as a supervisor for the system.

MILES IN APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES*

Updates for the 2023 model year include new Latte and Rosewood metallic paint colors, optional 21-inch wheels for the more agile Sport trim level and standard Brembo brakes with red calipers for that same spec. This Premium Luxury model showcases exactly none of those changes, but is noteworthy as the sweet spot in the XT6 lineup. Always pay attention while driving and when using Super Cruise. Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change not available while trailering. That’s understandable, but I do want to note a couple of moments where the AI gave me pause.

GMC SIERRA EV ELEVATION

We expect this to excite Super Cruise customers, particularly those with compatible trailers who camp, boat, and use recreational vehicles. For perspective, 750,000 miles is like traveling one way from Earth to the Moon three times or taking a coast-to-coast road trip from New York City to San Francisco and back nearly 130 times. This new batch of compatible roads makes Super Cruise the largest truly hands-free operating domain in North America — nearly six times the coverage of other hands-free driver assistance technologies on the market today. The Super Cruise driver-assistance feature is available on eligible 2018, 2019, and 2020 CT6 models, and 2021 Escalade models (late availability starting early 2021). The Super Cruise Package on 2018, 2019 and 2020 models includes 3 years of connectivity to support functionality, after which a Connected Services† plan must be purchased.

But if the road is covered in snow — or it’s a dirt road like the one we encountered on one of our splitboarding jaunts — you’re SOL. To find out if your vehicle has this feature, contact your dealer or refer to your vehicle’s equipment list. Please check your Owner’s Manual for more information about features. The entry-level XT6 Luxury is powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine.

HOW AND WHEN DOES THE MAP INFORMATION USED BY SUPER CRUISE UPDATE?

With an attentive driver, and under the proper conditions, Super Cruise-equipped vehicles can permit hands-free operation of the vehicle. Super Cruise† functions with OnStar® and uses real-time precise positioning cameras, sensors, GPS and LiDAR map data to detect curves, which can help make long drives and commutes comfortable and convenient. All Super Cruise-equipped vehicles include three years of connectivity to support functionality, after which a Super Cruise plan must be purchased. It is important to always remember that Super Cruise is a driver assistance technology and cannot accurately detect all situations, so you should pay attention to the road ahead while Super Cruise is engaged. Super Cruise also cannot determine whether the driver is awake, asleep, impaired or properly focused on safe driving.

One thing that really stands out is something the YDU didn’t do, which is leave me feeling totally exhausted upon arrival at our lodgings after some 14 hours on the road. That says a ton for both the comfy interior and certainly for Super Cruise. It’s pretty awesome to endure such a punishing drive and wake up the next morning refreshed and ready to tackle a mountain. Basically, as long as there are clearly visible lane markings, the system seems able to function.

With over 34 million hands-free miles driven with Super Cruise, this driver assistance technology is innovating the future of driving. Featuring cars from several Mustang, Shelby, Thunderbird clubs, judged show. Trophies, T-shirts, raffle prizes, live music, Fee Free for spectators, $25 car registration. Giuseppe handled half of the miles and learned firsthand that Super Cruise has little tolerance for smartphone-addled drivers.

First, if you set the cruise control too fast, it can occasionally accelerate into turns in a way no human would. Second, when it comes to passing large vehicles like semi trucks, a human driver typically will give them a wide berth. Super Cruise passes them like it would any other vehicle, and unless you like the feeling of “buzzing the tower,” so to speak, it can feel a bit freaky.

GMC vehicles that are equipped with Super Cruise can drive on over 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. Use the map below to search for compatible U.S. roads for your next trip. Do not remove your hands from the steering wheel unless the light bar is green, which indicates that Super Cruise is steering the vehicle. Super Cruise is not available when Teen Driver† is active.

Ocean Victory - user reviews and comments

Built for exploration in earth’s most fragile places, Ocean Victory uses the cleanest available fuel, offers unique access to wilderness waters, and provides an unparalleled platform for discovery. However, it is best to refer to the ship’s packing guide for specialty clothing items, such as outerwear and shoes, which may be itinerary-dependent. In addition to the full buffet breakfast served daily in the Main Dining Room, guests can find a limited selection of pastries and shot glass-sized smoothies mid-morning in the observation lounge.

About Sunstone Tours & Cruises

Most have private balconies; some feature picture windows or French balconies, and a few are suites with separate living and sleeping areas. My deluxe balcony cabin featured a queen-size bed, sitting area with a small couch and a desk that offered a comfortable working space. The Wi-Fi worked well except when we anchored in the remote Gut Bay, Alaska.

Outside of salmon, there was no dish that screamed Alaska, no use of huckleberries, for example, and crab was offered only once, as an appetizer. Cabins to avoid on Ocean Victory include those on Deck 4 aft (the back of the ship), near the mudroom entrance. These can see a lot of foot traffic, and they also will pick up late-night noise from the crew area, especially on crew karaoke nights. Cigarette smoke also comes from a mysterious source here, and we picked up whiffs of it on and off during our Alaska sailing, when we stayed in cabin 433. A seldom-open infinity pool, flanked by two hot tubs with limited hours of operation, is located on Deck 7 aft. Two restaurants, one on Deck 8, the other on Deck 5, serve as the ship's dining rooms.

After an unforgettable expedition during the day, our guests can relax in the heated swimming pool and two jacuzzies. Or they can an enjoy being pampered in the Polar Spa with some unique treatments, like a Midnight Sun or a Fire and Ice Massage. For the active explorer, we offer a fully equipped gym with some of the best views in the industry, while shoppers can enjoy the boutique. A selection of lectures, screenings and activities will keep your brain interested and entertained.

Service and Wellness Onboard

From the Lalique Grand Staircase to the Owner's Suites, designer touches that create a casually elegant atmosphere are everywhere. Riviera's refined ambiance truly embodies the unparalleled Oceania Cruises experience. Zodiac outings and outdoor activities to explore the sites’ natural beauties, its magical fauna, and historic highlights are the ship’s main focus. These are enriched with engaging lectures at the Lecture Lounge to get a comprehensive understanding of the destination.

As a fellow writer and I wandered the main street, which was delightfully devoid of souvenir shops, we heard an odd, and quite loud, water-like sound coming from the sky. With this boat, the company introduced two new itineraries (themed as "Discover Beyond Alaska Expedition Adventure Cruise" - 10-night Vancouver BC to Sitka AK, and the reverse 11-night Sitka to Vancouver. Their bookings were opened in October 2019. Ocean Victory's cruises to Alaska and BC Canada were open for booking in July 2019.

Expedition Cruise Experiences on Ocean Victory

The Ocean Victory cruise ship cabins page is conveniently interlinked with its deck plans showing deck layouts combined with a legend and review of all onboard venues. While the restaurant, housekeeping, and front desk crew provide attentive service, the expedition staff service could be more consistent. In addition, there are issues with passenger communication around tours and excursions. This may be attributed to growing pains during the ship’s inaugural season and will hopefully work itself out as the line matures. More than half have balconies (68), and nine of these are French balconies. Although 16 of the cabins have porthole windows that do not open, there are no interior staterooms.

Amenities

For other kinds of entertainment, delight in a tasty cocktail after a swim in the infinity pool at the Pool deck or enjoy an intimate, flavour-ful moment at the Albatros Nordic Bar Lounge. This is a conveniently located cabin close to the Mudroom which facilitates access to the zodiacs during embarkation and disembarkation to begin your adventures on the zodiacs. Onboard activities are more education-based than entertainment-based, spanning lectures and hands-on science "experiments" that helped explain everything from geologic history in Alaska to how mammals handle swimming in cold water.

Ocean Victory offers what AQV founder John Waggoner calls "encounter" travel, or "getting deeply immersive in things through experiences," with its adventure offerings and itinerary that sails into lesser-traveled areas of southeast Alaska. I've generally avoided both, being put off by the crowds and mass-market feel of traditional ocean liners and too spoiled by years of luxury travel to be tempted by the more basic adventure ships. In summer 2025 (April-October) the ship will be chartered to Alma Cruceros (2024-founded/new travel brand and Spanish cruise company). The itineraries visit destinations in the Mediterranean (including Western and Northern Africa) and Spain's Canary Islands. There are a total of 20 pairs of connecting rooms (balconied cabins) that can be booked as one "family stateroom" for up to 6 persons. There are no wheelchair-accessible cabins (suitable for passengers with disabilities).

On this comfortable deck, tuck into some vacation reading, look ahead on where you’re headed or reminisce on where you’ve been. Sink into a comfy sofa or chair, and appreciate the breeze as we sail along, or gather near the bow to watch the spectacle of passing through a lock. Indulge in a specialty massage, a rejuvenating facial, a pampering mani-pedi. Come in from your day of exploring and treat yourself to a makeover – new haircut, new make-up?

The new 186-passenger expedition ship is operated during the summer Alaska cruise season by American Queen Voyages, a company best known for its red paddle-wheelers that ply America's rivers. The company CMIH is a subsidiary of China Merchants Group (among the country's largest groups of companies). For the ship's hotel design was contracted the Florida (USA)-based company Tomas Tillberg Design International (specializing in passenger vessel design).

Sirena offers 2 additional unique, open-seating restaurants, the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center, eight lounges and bars, a casino and 333 luxurious suites and tony staterooms, nearly 70% of which feature private verandas. She embraces the elegant ambiance of our renowned 1,250-guest ships while also offering an array of amenities and choices. In addition to multiple open-seating gourmet restaurants, Marina features memorable food and wine experiences at La Reserve by Wine Spectator as well as the opportunity for private dining at exclusive Privée.

Having a beach tote or backpack to carry your things is the way to go. When it comes to a cruise, of course get the cute pair of heels for dinner but make sure you bring a couple comfortable pairs of shoes as well. It’s also just a good casual option to walk around the ship in on those hot summer days. Dresses are my personal favorite option to pack for cruises. They are lightweight, easy to pack and don’t take up a ton of space. A pashmina shawl wrap will looks great over an evening dress.

Women’s Cruise Packing List

Women can choose from a myriad of styles to fit their body type and personal style, ensuring they look and feel fabulous. Capri pants paired with a blouse strike a balance between comfort and style. The 3/4 length of the Capri is well-suited for maritime climates while the blouse can offer a splash of color or an cute design element. Layering a cardigan over a crop top and shorts ensures versatility in changing temperatures. This combination keeps it comfortable and relaxed with the option to add or remove the cardigan as needed.

Tote Bag or Beach Bag

These sets can range from matching shorts and tops to skirt and blouse combinations, adaptable for various daytime activities onboard. I’d recommend going for an extra-large scarf or sweater that still can be worn over your shoulders during the evening. It’s not too casual and looks dressy, while still keeping you warm. No matter when or where your cruise is, a lightweight jacket is a good idea for added warmth on cooler nights or heavy inside air conditioning. This could be a denim jacket, a lightweight sweater, or shall. Like I previously mentioned, after lounging at the pool deck, I like to get dressed up in a nice sundress to have a sunset cocktail before dinner.

Casual Dinner Outfits

You should not wear anything that is considered inappropriate. For example, don’t wear pajamas outside of your cabin unless you’re on a cruise with Virgin Voyages and it’s pajama night. Read more about the dos and don’ts of what not to wear on a cruise. If the excursion involves long walks, prioritize comfortable sneakers or tennis shoes. Choose versatile sneakers for travel days to save luggage space.

What are the best clothes to wear on a cruise?

Women should choose swimwear that offers the desired level of coverage and support, and a cover-up that complements the overall look. Jumpsuits can be easily dressed up with statement jewelry and a pair of heels, making women feel sophisticated and fashion-forward. A maxi skirt paired with a blouse is a beautiful option for those who prefer a more feminine look.

Plus, the slit sleeves design makes it a super comfortable party dress. Capris are becoming so popular on the cruise because of comfort. It is perfect for dressing up for port excursions and exploring. The walking shoes or comfortable sandals look gorgeous with capris. But comfort is the key because everyone wants to feel comfortable in their outfits while dragging luggage.

Think of resort casual as your classic vacation ‘resort wear’ — bright colors, bold patterns. Alaska cruises can be chilly, even in the height of summer. So you’ll want to pack a light jacket and, just to be on the safe side, a rain jacket.

Cruise Clothing Basics to Pack for a Cruise

Formal dress codes for ladies include cocktail dresses, elegant skirts, and evening-wear blouses. To be honest, I think that the ladies have an easier time with evening cruise outfits because mostly anything goes as long as it’s dressy. Darker-colored sundresses, cocktail dresses, or even pants with a dressy top will work. Another great idea for formal nights is the long maxi dress.

It’s suitable for various activities such as beach outings and swimming pools, with the added convenience of two side pockets to carry small items. This romper is a versatile choice for cruise occasions, whether you’re attending a cruise party, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying casual wear onboard. Its stylish design with a sexy v-neck and floral print adds a chic touch to your cruise wardrobe, making it suitable for various cruise activities and events.

Water shoes and flip-flops are essential beach essentials. Especially if your port excursions include rough tracks, you can’t ignore the significance of water shoes. With shorts and pants, you can opt for v-neck t-shirts that my aunt wore for two days on her last cruise. Otherwise, you can wear these ripped jeans shorts with more casual vibes.

If you like a longer sleeve dress for cool weather cruises, this faux wrap style dress is flattering and so easy to pack for a cruise. This short floral dress is so easy and comfortable for both day and evening. I wore this halter style dress on my recent Sun Princess cruise and received so many compliments. The material is very comfortable and it packs very easily. Regarding swimwear, I prefer coverage, and this women’s halter one-piece skirt is one of my top swimsuits for cruise voyages. It features a low-back design that looks more elegant and hides your tummy.
